Dallas Safari Club hosted Texas Youth Hunting Program’s Adventure Hunt Skills Workshop on Saturday. A total of 24 youth and 15 parents attended the workshop. TYHP Adventure Hunts are advanced hunting opportunities designed for older youth that already have hunting experience, and focus on species, methods, and techniques that offer increased challenges. Course instructor and TYHP Regional Coordinator Bob Barnette said “I often describe Adventure Hunts as those where we don’t sit in box blinds and shoot critters that come to corn feeders – we spot-and-stalk or call game to get shot opportunities, often hunting in rugged terrain from dark-to-dark, and in situations where success likely means quartering the animal in the field and packing it out on our backs. Most of our TYHP participants have never done such things, so we created this workshop to provide up-front education and preparation to ensure our participants are set up for success.
